Dr Yan is a Member of the Institution of Electrical Engineers,
Chartered Engineer (CEng)and a Member of the Institute of Learning
and Teaching. He also has a number of responsibilities both at the
Faculty and the Department level. He was Awarded Japanese government
STA fellowship by Japan Science and Technology Corporation and worked
at Japanese National Mechanical Engineering Laboratory for six weeks.
He is also an Overseas Expert research grants Referee for Research
Grants Council of Hong Kong Government. He received his PhD from
Loughborough University of Technology in 1992.
